At the Dancey Ballroom and Dance Studio we provide dance classes, lessons, workshops and social dancing events in a wide range of dance styles, including: Salsa, Tango, Bachata, Merengue, Cha Cha Cha, Kizomba, Swing, Blues, and more – as well as complementary activities such as yoga, health and fitness, self-defence and martial arts.
The Dancey Ballroom is run by Stephen and Jennifer Dancey (yes that really is our last name!) creators of Vancouver’s leading salsa website SalsaVancouver.net and the organizers of the hugely popular annual salsa event: Sunday Afternoon Salsa at Robson Square.
Whether you are an absolute beginner and new to dancing or you’ve been dancing for years, we aim to provide you with a fun and rewarding experience through our dance classes and social dance events. We work with some of Vancouver’s best instructors who are dedicated to teaching proper technique, musicality, and excellent leading and following skills, in a challenging yet encouraging environment.
• No partner necessary. Everyone rotates partners throughout the lessons.
• A learning environment that is encouraging, fulfilling and fun.
• Instructors who are patient, dedicated and passionate about dancing and teaching.
You will be able to dance anywhere, with anyone, with confidence, and leave your classes and hit the dance floor feeling great!
Learning to dance is also a fantastic way to meet new people and an activity that appeals to people of all ages and from all backgrounds. It’s a very social activity with a vibrant community here in Vancouver and through our classes and social dance events we provide many opportunities to dance and socialize with friendly, like-minded people who share your interests in social dancing.
The Dancey Ballroom is a stunning dance studio located in downtown Vancouver at 505 Hamilton Street, in a Romanesque Revival style heritage building of distinction (built 1905) located on the corner of Hamilton and Pender, near Vancouver’s theatre district and historic Gastown area.
