New to Dancing?

Please note the Dancey Ballroom is closing on June 23.
New class program at D2 Dance Studio starts in July.

Whether you’re an absolute beginner and new to dancing or you’ve been dancing for years, we aim to provide you with a fun and rewarding experience through our dance classes and social dance events at our two studio locations in Vancouver.
We offer a variety of learning opportunities specially tailored for people new to dancing, including weekly beginner salsa classes, one-day beginner salsa bootcamps, and introductory drop-in lessons on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons. Check our New to Dancing page for information.

Do I need a partner?

With social partner dances you do not need a dance partner to attend a class as students change partners throughout a lesson. In fact the majority of people who attend classes come on their own without a partner.  Nor do you need a dance partner to attend a social dance party as it is a social event where people are encouraged to dance with each other.

Dance Styles

The majority of dance classes we offer are in social partner dance styles such as Salsa, Tango, Hustle, Bachata, etc. Social partner dances have a basic choreography which involves the coordinated dancing of two partners dancing together (as opposed to dancing alone or in a performance group) and which can be enjoyed in a social context such as a salsa dance event.
Our current session includes classes in Salsa, Hustle, Bachata, Tango, Kizomba, Zouk and more; from beginner to advanced levels. Weekly classes run seven days a week, weeknights and weekends. For more information, click on Dance Classes on the menu at the top.

Learn to dance – Meet new people – Have more fun

We work with many of Vancouver’s best instructors who are dedicated to teaching proper technique, musicality, and leading & following skills in a challenging yet encouraging learning environment.
• No partner necessary. Everyone rotates partners throughout the lessons.
• A learning environment that is encouraging, fulfilling and fun.
• Instructors who are patient, dedicated and passionate about dancing and teaching.
You will be able to dance anywhere, with anyone, with confidence – and leave your classes and hit the dance floor feeling great!
